Professor Klaus
Schwab believe that we are at the beginning of a revolution that is primarily changing the manner we live, work & relate to one another, which he has
investigated in his new book, The Fourth Industrial Revolution. Industry
4.0 represents the upcoming Fourth Industrial revolution, which we can’t
isolate from the convergence of several forthcoming disruptive technologies
that are blending the physical, biological & digital world impacting every discipline
as well as economies, industries, & even challenging humanity.
Disruptive
technology can be defined as one that significantly influence & impact
business, market, society & humanity. Disruptive technologies appear to
dictate a new future for humanity. Clayton
Christensen popularized the idea of disruptive technologies in the book “The
Innovator's Dilemma” in 1997.
Transition from pre-industrial area to Industry
4.0 is depicted in Figure 1 below.

Industry 4.0, Fourth industrial
revolution, disruptive technologies may form a disruptive ecosystem of self
communicating, perhaps decision making set of devices but it is prudent &
utmost important to keep in mind that it should be human-centric always.
