Tips for a healthy and glowing skin

Glowing Skin… Ah !! Its every woman’s dream..
Our skin is composed of two primary layers- epidermis and dermis.
Healthy skin is a reflection of overall wellness.
It is important to have a regular skin care regimen. Beautiful skin requires a commitment, not a miracle !  I know it can be difficult at most times, especially if we have to juggle between a job, managing home, taking care of the kids etc. But once we inculcate a few things in our routine and practice them regularly, they start coming naturally to us and we don’t have to devote extra time to it as such.

So here are some secrets to keep your skin healthy and glowing

  • Drink water. Always keep yourself hydrated. But don’t over do it.
  • Eat healthy food. Please avoid juicing the fruits. Instead eat them as a whole.
  • Always try to eat local grown food rather than falling for fancy foreign items. Also include seasonal fruits and vegetables in your diet.
  • Never touch your face for no reason. Since our hands touch a lot of places, we could transfer the bacteria on them to our face.
  • Always moisturize your face appropriately. Because a dry, flaky face is not a pretty sight.
  • Practice some form of exercise regularly. It could be yoga, jogging, circuit training etc. Toxins are flushed out of our skin in the form of sweat.
  • Practice meditation regularly. Do some form of pranayama.
  • Lack of sleep takes a toll on our skin and general health. So 7-8 hours of sleep is a must.
  • Limit your intake of deep fried, spicy and greasy food. Avoid aerated drinks.
  • Here is a face mask which will give a glow to your face- mix yoghurt, gram flour, 1 tsp of honey and a little lemon juice together and apply it on face. Keep it for 15-20 minutes. Wash it with cold water.
  • Massage your face once in a month with olive oil.
  • Avoid using too many cosmetics on your face. If you do apply make up, be sure to take it off completely before hitting the bed.
  • Avoid long, steamy baths. Because it strips you off your natural moisture.
  • Stress is a big no-no. If something is bothering you, speak it out to your loved one. Don’t bottle it up. Pursue a hobby. Always find a way to keep your life beautiful and meaningful.
